For example, a $5 million batch of bonds from a deal Citigroup issued in October changed hands at 99.5 cents on the dollar, according to Empirasign. A week earlier, the same paper was trading at par, one trader said. The 2.2-year bonds, with a "Baa3" rating from Moody's, are backed by consumer loans originated by Lending Club rival Prosper Marketplace.
